Art Block... or just lazy??

Hello my readers, who ever you may be.

Lately I've been really frustrated, art wise.

I don't feel quite as creative lately, or just in general, a lot of it seems rather forced out of me, rather than it just coming naturally to me, and making it fun and satisfying.

Right now I have no inspiration or motivation to make artwork on my own. It makes me really upset and frustrated.

I dunno if it’s the fact that I’m usually staring at a computer screen 5hrs/day so when I get home I can’t stand looking at one to do more work on Illustrator…

That or I’m just really annoyed lately.

Anyway, anyone know a way to help me outta this art block? It’d be much appreciated!

OMB 2012 Season

Okay, well, my last video was definitely the Chip Kelly one, but I made this for our band banquet that was a couple of weeks ago. I had so much footage of the band from the season, I decided it would be good to make one video to reflect such a great season!

It took me a while to pick a song to use, but I ended up settling with this one. I'm glad that I picked it in the end though.

Go OMB!

Farewell Chip

As one of my final assignments with the Oregon Marching Band, I was asked to make a short video to say thank you and farewell to our head football coach Chip Kelly. This is especially from the seniors in the band who have been around since Kelly first started coaching here.

As a result of his coaching, we were able to go to the Rose Bowl twice and the Fiesta Bowl twice (one of them was the BCS national championship).

Anyway, most of the footage was shot by me, and a few clips were pulled from archives of older performances. The song that is the background is the theme from "Gladiator", which they always played during pregame when they made the "Win The Day" set.

I have been very fortunate to be in school when Chip Kelly stepped into the position. I'm sure my experiences would have been much different.

Good Luck Chip! Take the NFL by storm!

Two New OMB Videos!!

I can't believe that this season is over already!! (At least the regular season). This whole experience with the marching band has been a blast. It's been really great to be working with a great organization that I have had the pleasure of being a member of for 3 years.
In honor of our last home game, I decided to do a multi-angle video of both the pregame and halftime shows. I figured that this would be the last time that pregame was entirely the band's and not shared with OSU or any other visiting bands. Also I thought that their West Side Story show deserved some attention.
With the help of the GTF Nathan Stokes and Band Administrator Sarah Dodson I was able to pull this together. I also would like to congratulate Stokes for overcoming his fear of heights to help us get the high shot for halftime. I'd like to thank Sarah for recording footage on the left side of the field, and I'd like to thank Tom Emerson and Katie Cracchiolo for letting me borrow their cameras to record.

A lot of parents have been commenting on our Facebook page to have close ups, so I hope they enjoyed it as well.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the videos! (above: Pregame, below: Halftime)

OMB Shots

So even though I am contracted as the videographer for the marching band, I have also been taking a lot of pictures with my DSLR and adding it to their Facebook page. To me it's fun and rewarding because 1) I like taking pictures 2) I am a total band geek. To me it's rewarding to take pictures for something that I am really interested in and have been a part of. Here are a couple of shots that I am really proud of from this season.
I can't believe we only have one more home game left!!! Time sure has flown by! Anyways, sko ducks!

Small Photography Gig: Ballet Fantastique

So about a month ago I was asked by a friend to help take pictures at a gala/fundraiser for the Ballet Fantastique (a local ballet company in Eugene). She was an intern with the company, and was put in charge of looking for photographers to volunteer and asked me and one other girl. I ended up agreeing because I thought that it would be good experience, plus I've been wanting to take more pictures again.
The night was filled with musical performers, dancers, free wine and food. It was a lot of fun to be at and I'm happy with what I was able to get.

Anyway, here are some of the pictures that I took from that night.
Enjoy!

Updates: Being busy, old iPhone decal and other things to look forward to

Well hello world!
So I said I'd try to revive this blog, but so far not a go, yet. >.<
I guess I can say that I have been a little bit busy lately... but yet these past 2 weeks have been free since we FINALLY had a bye week for football after 6 straight weekends.

I haven't been doing much lately, art-wise...or maybe I have been, but I've been posting elsewhere. Haha

Well here is something that I made over a month ago:

Since I started my new job at the sign company, I now have access to a vinyl cutter every day! And I can cut things out if there's
a) scraps
b) nothing else to do.
This was my first commission by a friend. I guess in general I was feeling pretty creative and had a streak of awesome things coming along, but recently I've been a bit of a rut. Maybe things will pick up again...? But we'll see.

As far as other things that have been going on...

Last weekend I was asked by a friend to shoot some photos at a gala/fundraiser event for the a ballet company here in Eugene. There was free wine (which I took advantage of), but also auctions and live performances by some of the dancers of the company.
I think once I reformat, and pick some photos, I'll make a post for them :D
I didn't get paid for it, but it was a good experience none the less.

I also have been taking a lot of pictures of the OMB this season and posting it to their FB page
I noticed that a lot of the parents seem to enjoy it, as well as the members. ^_^
So I may post a few pictures up of my favorites from the season so far.
We're also working on a new video for the band, that will hopefully be up by the end of the season, but we shall see.

And I guess the last thing that I would want to say is that I plan on making a CatBus sticker outta vinyl sometime soon. Or I might just make a post of all the stickers I've made so far XD and them being used by my friends :3

Anyways, sorry for the stream of consciousness post! Just thought I should update.

Take care and ttfn!

Ducks Season Opener 2012

Just a quick short edit of footage from the Ducks season opener vs Arkansas State.

Can't wait for the rest of the season to continue! Go OMB!

Filmed with a Canon Rebel T3
Edited in FCP
Song used: "Joker & The Thief" - Wolfmother

Oregon Marching Band - Gangnam Style!

This past weekend I have had the opportunity to edit my first multi-angle video, thanks to the Oregon Marching Band.
After our school's mascot's Gangnam Style video went viral last month, the band sought to have a halftime performance that Autzen would never forget. With that in mind, Sarah contacted me and Tom to discuss this video project. This was the first time that I've ever done something with multiple cameras, so I was thrilled to jump on board.

My 1st MM shoot!

So almost about a year ago I joined Model Mayhem.
I'm not sure why it took me so long to want to post these, but today I finally decided, why not?

Long story short, I was lucky to get in touch with a local model in Eugene and had my very first shoot!

For this shoot I wanted to concentrate on walls. Brick walls, stone walls, smooth walls, graffiti walls, you name it. However, if you know me, I kinda tend to not have an exact plan, just ideas, and see where it takes me from there. Luckily Charesse was the same way. Haha

For this shoot, the only lens that I did use was the 50mm 1.8 for Canon, shot with a Rebel T3.

Anyways "read more" to check it out further!
